The Clerk’s Department is responsible for the following:
- Preparation of Council agendas, minutes and by-laws
- Acts as Corporate Secretary
- Distribution of communications resulting from Council proceedings;
- Circulation of statutory notices under various Acts of the Legislature
- Provision of information and service to the public, Council, Township departments, outside agencies, businesses, media, provincial and federal governments on matters relating to municipal government
- Issuance of Lottery Licenses
- Maintain the Civic Addressing system
- Process Requests Under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
- Commissioner of Oath Services
- Administrative services under various pieces of Provincial Legislation such as the Municipal Act, Planning Act, Livestock & Poultry Protection Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, etc.
- Administration and retention of Corporate records
- Division Registrar for the Office of the Registrar General of the Province of Ontario
- The Clerk is the Returning Officer for municipal and school board elections and is responsible for conducting the election under the provisions of the Municipal Elections Act.
- Maintain municipal web site
- Administers the municipal cemeteries
- Prepares certified documents, municipal policies and procedures;
- Administers the municipal Community Centre
- Maintain the municipal emergency plan
