Clerk’s Department

The Clerk’s Department is responsible for the following:

  • Preparation of Council agendas, minutes and by-laws
  • Acts as Corporate Secretary
  • Distribution of communications resulting from Council proceedings;
  • Circulation of statutory notices under various Acts of the Legislature
  • Provision of information and service to the public, Council, Township departments, outside agencies, businesses, media, provincial and federal governments on matters relating to municipal government
  • Issuance of Lottery Licenses
  • Maintain the Civic Addressing system
  • Process Requests Under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
  • Commissioner of Oath Services
  • Administrative services under various pieces of Provincial Legislation such as the Municipal Act, Planning Act, Livestock & Poultry Protection Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, etc.
  • Administration and retention of Corporate records
  • Division Registrar for the Office of the Registrar General of the Province of Ontario
  • The Clerk is the Returning Officer for municipal and school board elections and is responsible for conducting the election under the provisions of the Municipal Elections Act.
  • Maintain municipal web site
  • Administers the municipal cemeteries
  • Prepares certified documents, municipal policies and procedures;
  • Administers the municipal Community Centre
  • Maintain the municipal emergency plan
